EAT & DRINK

Dining at Stonefly

Every meal at Stonefly is a collaboration between our kitchen, our garden, and the land around us. Chef Andreas crafts a new menu each day, served family-style by the people who prepared it. This isn't restaurant dining — it's something more personal.

EAT & DRINK

Four Courses, One Seating

Dinner begins with canapés and local wine on the outdoor terrace overlooking the Motueka River. Then it's inside to the dining room for fresh-baked bread with butter and olive oil pressed from olives grown on the farm, followed by a three course meal highlighting the best seasonal produce from the kitchen garden and local area.

Harry, Livi, and Andreas serve each course themselves, walking you through what's on the plate and where it comes from. The portions look elegant, but you'll leave full — trust us.

FROM THE GARDEN

Grown Steps from the Kitchen

Our vegetable garden supplies much of what you'll eat — herbs picked minutes before they hit the pan, vegetables pulled that morning, edible flowers that end up on your plate.

The chickens provide fresh eggs for breakfast. The olive trees give us oil. What we can't grow ourselves comes from trusted local producers around the Nelson region.

THE CHEF

Andreas

Swedish-born and New Zealand-based for many years, Andreas has opened and run highly acclaimed restaurants around the world. Now he works exclusively at Stonefly, where he has the freedom to cook exactly what inspires him each day.

You'll often find him in the garden before dinner, selecting what's ready to pick. And if you'd like, you can sit at the countertop bar and watch him work — he's happy to chat while he cooks.

THE BAR

More than Wine

The Lodge offers the best of the regions wine, but if you're in the mood for something else, we have a full bar. Old fashioneds, Pimm's cups, whatever you'd like — and if we don't have it, we can usually get it by the next day.

LUNCH

Fuel for the Adventure

Most guests spend their days out on excursions, so lunch is available on request. Heading out fly fishing? We'll pack something for you. Staying closer to the lodge? Just let us know and we'll take care of it.

BREAKFAST

Start the Day Right

Each morning, fresh fruits, house-made smoothies, pastries baked on-site, and eggs, bacon, and toast prepared exactly how you like them.

Take your time. And don't worry about what's left over — anything untouched goes to the grounds staff. Nothing is wasted here.

We're happy to accommodate dietary requirements — vegetarian, gluten-free, allergies, and more. Please let us know when booking so we can plan accordingly.
