OUR STORY
Built from the River Up
Stonefly Lodge was built between 2006 and 2009 by John & Kate Kerr. Every stone you see in the large double-sided fireplace, the walls, and the pillars were hand-picked from the Motueka River below.
The lodge interior is centered around the double-sided fireplace, which provides the ambiance to the main lounge, library, dining room, and sunroom. The result is a lodge designed from the ground up for intimacy, comfort, and connection to the land around it.
Today, Harry and Livi continue that vision, running Stonefly as a place where fishing and adventure is world-class and the hospitality is personal.

Four Suites, Each Unique
No room categories, no upgrades. Every guest gets the same experience. Each room has a super king bed, allowing the lodge to accommodate four couples or eight singles. Private balconies overlook the Motueka River and the Mt Arthur Range in Kahurangi National Park.

Stonefly has its own helipad on the front lawn. Helicopter transfers from Nelson Airport take just 15 minutes, with breathtaking views over Tasman Bay and the Abel Tasman coastline along the way.
Prefer to drive? It's a 55-minute journey from Nelson Airport through some of New Zealand's most beautiful countryside. Free guest parking is available at the lodge, and security gates can be activated for complete privacy.
